Description

A delicious Patty Melt featuring juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, and a secret sauce, all sandwiched between toasted rye bread and melted Swiss cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of rye bread
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Season the patties with salt and black pepper.
  4. Add olive oil to the skillet and cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side until cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard to make the secret sauce.
  8. Spread the secret sauce on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  9. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on 4 slices of bread.
  10. Top each with a beef patty and caramelized onions.
  11. Add another slice of Swiss cheese and the remaining bread slices with the secret sauce facing down.
  12. Return the sandwiches to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until the bread is toasted, and the cheese is melted.
  13. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Patty Melts with Secret Sauce!
