Description

Crispy Chicken Parmesan is a delicious Italian-American dish featuring breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second dish, and combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper in a third dish.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. In a large skillet, heat a generous amount of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  5. Transfer the cooked chicken to a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in Italian dressing for a few hours before breading.
  • Serve with pasta or a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
